6 Secrets Revealed To Be A Grade-A Blogger

AdulationLet’s be honest, unless you are blogging solely for your close families and friends, chances are you wish you could be a Grade-A blogger. We all dream of having thousands of readers and subscribers. We all dream of having our blog posts becoming popular on social media and attracting more than 100 comments. We all dream of having other people raving about our blog. Just like how a 1st class student is distinguished from a 3rd class student, the attributes of a Grade-A blogger can be distinguished from an average blogger. If you can show the following characteristics in your blogging, you definitely have the makings of a Grade-A blogger (if you are not already one). These are 6 brilliant ways to be a Grade-A blogger.

Originality of Thought
Tell your story your way. Nothing is more important than expressing your own thoughts through your own style. Assuming you author a blog about managing personal finance and you wish to blog about tips to reduce credit card debts. We all know there are thousands of articles on the same subject matter. Don’t follow the others. Rather, tell it in a different way. If you have a personal experience, use it and share it in your tips. It becomes more original and lends a reality to the thing you are blogging about. Remember that your own story is unique. And people generally like that. Read on »

Tree Blogging

Shady TreeMost people are in awe of towering trees - deep and healthy roots, massive trunk and shady branches. It is not surprising that trees are often used as a symbol of strength and to a lesser extent, protection and comfort. Man, being attuned to nature, are naturally attracted to trees (and plants) for the benefit they bring which explains why even a condominium dweller would still buy some potted plants to adorn his home or balcony. So, what’s a tree got to do with blogging? Well, I want to share some tips with you to visualize how you can use the example of a tree to create a blog which people love.

Roots

Roots denote foundation and security. When you build your blog, begin by writing a few (say, 10) foundational posts - posts which are timeless and provide plenty of value to readers. Write these posts with the aim of providing maximum attraction to new readers and continuing to attract new readers even when you have blogged for a considerable time.

When executed in the most optimum way, these foundational posts serve to draw incoming traffic. Even during dry days (eg. when you are too busy to blog or have nothing to blog about), you can rest secure that these foundational posts of yours continue to bring incoming traffic. Unless deliberately poisoned, the roots of the tree are probably one of the last parts of the tree to die. Read on »

How To Sell Your Blog With A Good “About” Page

Introduction55One of the biggest mistakes I have seen bloggers commit is not paying attention to their “About” page. It usually leaves me dumbfounded when a blog which supposedly teaches others about blogging or making money contains little or no information on the author or the purpose of the site. The immediate result of that is my lack of trust in the site and chances are, I will not return to read the same blog. I sincerely hope you are not committing this grave error.

I Want To Know What Your Site Offers

This is not new as many other bloggers have mentioned it before. Having a well described “About” page gives the new reader further details on what the blog is all about. You might have a tagline near your blog title / header but that may not suffice. Tell me what’s in it for me to make repeated visits to your blog.

I Want To Know Your Credentials

If you are blogging to teach or give tips and such, it is essential that you let me know what kind of credentials you have to teach or give me such tips. Nobody becomes a teacher overnight without a period of learning. I will be very suspicious on your credibility when you blog out of nowhere and claim to know the secrets of this and that (especially on money making online). It is natural to be impressed by someone with credentials - especially if the credentials are relevant to the area they are writing in. Read on »

Should You Start With A Personal Blog, Niche Blog or Composite Blog?

PassionThis post gets its inspiration from the comments made at my previous post about readership count and how many do you really need (thanks for the great comments, folks!). The comment thread contained suggestions that it is easiest (and probably best) to start with a personal blog as you can basically talk about anything and everything in such a blog. That is true. But is it really the best option there is if you are to start blogging? Or is it the right kind of blog you should try out with before you venture into other kinds of blog?

As an author of multiple blogs ranging from personal blogging to niche blogging and also delving into composite blogging over the past 2 years, I will share with you my experience on all three of them so that you can make an informed decision on how to start off your blogging hobby (or venture).

Personal Blogs

Personal blogs are generally described as blogs which reveal the life of the blogger. It can be their daily raving and ranting or it can be a sharing of their beliefs and thoughts. It is intimate at times as it could be their one and only source of revealing their inner feelings, something which they don’t do in public. It is usually impromptu and does not take much effort in thought or composition of the post. The earliest form of blogs are known to be online journals which are personal in nature.

With personal blogs, it takes time to build regular readership as visitors will have to firstly, get acquainted to the blogger and the latter’s interests and way of writing before they will stick around to be a regular reader. Many people indulge in blog surfing and it takes quite a lot to make an impact on a visitor to want to make them stay longer or repeat their visit. You only have that one chance to convince them. In this connection, the expression of words and feelings play a crucial important part. Consider the following example of how a blogger might want to blog about a road accident which he encountered:- Read on »
