A Feverish Holiday To Start With
Hello there folks!
I am still on holiday in the city of Kuching, Sarawak on the faraway island of Borneo
Been here since Monday and what a feverish holiday it has been - literally. I was down with fever the day I left and has been reduced to much like sore limbs all over till Wednesday when the fever eased up. But I felt that there was still some heatiness in my body which is why I took a bold step to see a chinese medical practioner who prescribed me some traditional medicine which I have to take for 1 week. Tastes awful but it is slowly doing its job.
To make things more “dull” over here, the pc at home crashed on Wednesday, which explains why I couldn’t get online. I am now using my brother-in-law’s notebook at home but with a dialled up line, I should keep my posting short else it gets cut off in transit! Malaysians know how reliable our internet service provider is
This holiday has been a good break in a way and has helped me think about blogging differently. Just that I don’t have a pc to type it at a go as I am thinking which is what I am more favoured of doing. I just don’t have the urge to pick up a pen and paper (despite what Darren Rowse and some probloggers have advised) to jot my thoughts so that I can put them all down later. I don’t have the luxury of a full time blogging job as a start.
All right then. Let me beam this post up so that you guys know that I am alive and kicking! Cough! Cough!

Almost Done With My Business
Yesterday, I used a new theme called News Theme which was released just 2 days ago at Performancing. Whilst it looked good judging from the valuable comments received, I could not view it on IE. I definitely don’t want to lose my readers who use IE and following the advice of Skellie (she actually emailed me personally to give me feedback on my site!), I decided to change the theme of this blog. A more business like, yet professional look. I settled for this theme called Red Business. Incidentally, this theme is also coded by the talented Ericulous, who also gave us the Genki theme which I am now using for my recipe blog. Oh, on a side note, did you hear about the premium Revolution theme launched by Brian Gardner? I was on the verge of purchasing it!
Changing of themes is a time consuming business. You need to add in lots of codes if you are using multiple plugins, advertisements and codes of various kinds (eg. google analytics tracker, other trackers etc). When you change themes, you got to remember to copy and paste these codes onto your new theme at suitable areas and reload the site each time you paste the codes to ensure that it is working. When I was working on the News Theme theme yesterday, I copied and pasted a couple of codes in one go and reloaded the site. I must have done something wrong as an error message appeared, which required me to upload the theme again and start afresh. Talk about spending time effectively!
So, even though changing of themes is good and refreshing, it does take up a lot of your time. I think I am almost done with my business here. I am just wondering what I shall do with the big red rectangular box above - if I keep it, what shall I write there? Or shall I reserve it for advertising space?
Help me out here a bit will ya? I appreciate some feedback and ideas
An Overhaul of This Blog is Due
I am in the midst of overhauling and cleaning up the look of this site after taking lots of pointers from two blogs which I now absolutely dig - Skelliewag.Org and Pro Blog Design. It would be awesome if they could give me direct guidance on how I could make this blog look much more professional and appealing to readers but for now, I shall have to continue reading their tips and implement them.
To tell you the truth, I dislike going to sites with plenty of adverts lying around unless the contents are so helpful or interesting to me that I could overlook the adverts. However, I realised that I am being a hypocrite because the immediate past template that I was using was FULL OF ADVERTS - adsense, affiliates, text ads and the like. So, in a new resolve, I shall now try to experiment and implement a minimal advert look for this site and see if it makes a difference in the readership et all.
Be prepared for some changes and interruptions here and there. Just like how Problogger recently changed its looks with feedback from his readers, I hope you will also give me your feedback here.
A Refreshing Change
If you are using Blogger or Wordpress for blogging, you will realise that there is a page for the blogger’s profile. There are plenty of posts out there which gives reasons why you should describe yourself well in the About / Profile page. The information in the About / Profile page could be important because your reader wants to know who you are or your potential advertiser wants to know more about you and this “may” affect their trust in you to do the job of advertising for them. I don’t know about you but I have a habit of reading the About / Profile of a site which I am visiting for the first time. Many writers say that placing the blogger’s photograph on the About / Profile page further enhances the “trustworthiness” of the blogger as he is no more blogging under anonimity. I agree with that.
Taking cue from the above, I realised that I needed to revamp my About page. I have taken the path of offering this site for advertising and realised that I have not given my advertisers much information on the author behind this site. (p/s: Check out my advertising promotion which will expire at the end of this month!) Moreover, traffic has increased of late and I want my new readers to know who I am, with the hope that this would be a good introduction to PabloPabla.
So folks, introducing to you The Author of Blogsreview (and a couple of other blogs). Tell me what do you think and what is lacking. No, photograph and real name is out of the question as I have revealed my full time profession and in my country, advertising the profession is very much limited and heavily-regulated. Thus, I cannot reveal that part of my identity.
