Experience The Power of Social Media
I have been promoting much about using social media to get your blog noticed. Of late, a couple of my posts have been given the thumbs up in StumbleUpon as well as Digg and this has brought me constant traffic, not to mention the additional exposure for this blog. I suspect it has to do with the type (and depth) of articles I have been writing here of late (compared to the time when this blog started).
However, I suspect that not all my readers actually use them for their own benefit as well as for the benefit of the blogs they are reading. I also think that not all bloggers are aware of the potential of social media in driving traffic and exposure to their blogs. With that in mind, this is a little project which I propose to do for readers and bloggers who are willing to participate. I would call this project “Experience The Power of Social Media“. I will be using StumbleUpon for this project.
First of all, sign up with StumbleUpon if you have not done so.
Next, if you are a blogger, leave your stumbleupon url (or ID) in the comment form below. By leaving your stumbleupon url (or ID) in the comment form, I would also know your web site / blog from your name.
I will make it a point to visit your site and choose at least one article worthy of a thumbs up and Stumble It. Now, it is not ethical to simply give the thumbs up to articles which are not interesting or worth reading and that is my little caveat. However, rest assured that if you have interesting articles, I will give the thumbs up. Watch your traffic and see if the thumbs up brings a bunch of visitors to your site. If it does, tell me and others about it.
For readers without blogs, being a StumbleUpon member brings you benefits as well in that you will be exposed to popular, interesting and useful articles out there. You might also discover some new gems. If you are already a fan of a blog, why not show some appreciation by giving that blogger a thumbs up? It really is a win win situation.
Finally, add the other commentators as your StumbleUpon friends. Build your network right here and support one another. Building a network of friends is one of the important steps you can take to get your blog noticed.
Are you ready? Let’s do it.
