Almost Done With My Business

Yesterday, I used a new theme called News Theme which was released just 2 days ago at Performancing. Whilst it looked good judging from the valuable comments received, I could not view it on IE. I definitely don’t want to lose my readers who use IE and following the advice of Skellie (she actually emailed me personally to give me feedback on my site!), I decided to change the theme of this blog. A more business like, yet professional look. I settled for this theme called Red Business. Incidentally, this theme is also coded by the talented Ericulous, who also gave us the Genki theme which I am now using for my recipe blog. Oh, on a side note, did you hear about the premium Revolution theme launched by Brian Gardner? I was on the verge of purchasing it!

Changing of themes is a time consuming business. You need to add in lots of codes if you are using multiple plugins, advertisements and codes of various kinds (eg. google analytics tracker, other trackers etc). When you change themes, you got to remember to copy and paste these codes onto your new theme at suitable areas and reload the site each time you paste the codes to ensure that it is working. When I was working on the News Theme theme yesterday, I copied and pasted a couple of codes in one go and reloaded the site. I must have done something wrong as an error message appeared, which required me to upload the theme again and start afresh. Talk about spending time effectively!

So, even though changing of themes is good and refreshing, it does take up a lot of your time. I think I am almost done with my business here. I am just wondering what I shall do with the big red rectangular box above - if I keep it, what shall I write there? Or shall I reserve it for advertising space?

Help me out here a bit will ya? I appreciate some feedback and ideas :D

    You could put some links in your red box, like popular posts, links to other blogs, etc. Btw thanks for adding me to FaceBook. The site is blocked at work, so I can only complete the process later at home.

    Ah Pek : I think so too ;) Somehow, I think I like a little bit of red colour on my sites.

    Adino : I think the links and such would be placed on the sidebar except the “pages” which are currently by default, placed on the left hand side of the header bit. The red rectangle is not a feature post option and needs to be worked at the header.php file everytime I want to change it. So, I am still wondering what’s best to place there. It would be superflous to write what this blog is all about when it is such a big box.

    Helen : Banners? I don’t know how to do them wor. You can do one for me kah? :D

    Ooh this is nice. Just one nit-picking thing. I like to return to the main index page by clicking on the title of the site instead of having to hunt down the “home” link. If you could link the title to your main page I think it would be perfect. And the Red box could do with a nice banner if someone can design you a suitable one :)

    I like the look. I agree with you. It looks more professional.

    Also, I understand how hard it is to change themes. That’s why I haven’t changed mine in a while. I’m saving up money for a blog designer and have him make a theme and install it :)
